Bangladesh President M. Abdul Hamid reached New Delhi on 18 December 2014, on a six-day official visit—the first visit by a ceremonial head of Bangladesh since 1972.
During his meeting with Prime Minister Narinder Modi, India conveyed to Bangladesh that it was willing to work on mutually beneficial. Both sides also warmly recollected their joint endeavours during the Liberation struggle of 1971. Mr Modi conveyed to President Hamid that India’s Act East Policy starts with Bangladesh and is willing to be catalytic agent to boost regional cooperation.
The visit contributed to further strengthening and expanding the close bilateral relations between the two countries.
President Hamid also visited Amjer, Agra, Jaipur and Kolkata during his stay in India.
